Re:Sponsor
HUMAN CENTRED DESIGN PROCESS
In this project, we examine how we might promote responsible digital citizenship at Mount Royal University, through research, public engagements, ethnography, information interviews, ideation, prototyping, and user testing.
Produced with a team of four other students.
Discovery
We started this project by first collecting desk research about what responsible digital citizenship focusing on digital access, commerce, communication, literacy, etiquette, law, right & wellness, and security.
Research & Ethnography
After better understanding the topic, we wanted to understand the digital society around us and thus, we captured photo ethnography of people on their devices and created a public engagement activity that tested its users and bring awareness to using the Internet responsibly and irresponsibly. Within our public engagement, we tested people's knowledge on what is responsible and not responsible for digital citizenship. We photographed the public using their devices to get an idea of how dependant modern-day society is on technology.
Ideation
We then contacted individuals who are affected by the digital society like university students and youths to get their take on the Internet. Here, we began to brainstorm the best ways to create awareness for digital responsibility and we decided on an app. Through examining precedents like “Honey” and creating personas based off of our target audience; Social Media influencer’s and viewers, we created Re:Sponsor. In our system map and process diagram, we deduced that our app will make influencer’s responsible for the authenticity of the items they sponsor. We developed systems maps for how our App would function, and the variables involved.

Prototyping
Using Adobe Illustrator, we developed app prototypes to help us understand user flow as well as overall functionality of the ReSponsor app. We then tested our app with ten volunteers and found that 9/10 people stated that they would use the ReSponsor app.
